Voice barge-in

The ability to interrupt an AI voice response by speaking.

Example

A caller begins a correction while the assistant is still talking.

Why people use it

It makes voice interaction easier to correct without waiting for the assistant to finish.

What you'll hear

“Let me interrupt and correct that.”

What this means for you

Test whether the system stops appropriately and incorporates the new information.

Can you control it?

Sometimes

Sometimes. Your choices depend on the tool and your access. The settings available to an everyday user may differ from those available to the people running it.

Common questions

Does detecting an interruption guarantee the correction is understood?
No. Detection, turning speech into writing and conversation handling are separate steps.
Can background speech trigger an interruption?
Yes. Another person or recorded audio may be mistaken for the user speaking.
Does stopping the voice stop every action too?
Not necessarily. A separate task may continue unless the system handles the interruption as a cancellation.
