LATHIC Privacy Notice

Effective date: September 5, 2026

LATHIC (“LATHIC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This notice explains how we handle information when you use lathic.ai or apply for access to LATHIC Lessons.

Information we collect

When you apply for access to LATHIC Lessons, we collect:

  • your email address;
  • the date and time you applied;
  • the source of the application, such as the LATHIC website; and
  • a record of the notice and consent language shown when you applied.

Our hosting and security providers may also process limited technical information, such as an IP address, browser information, and request logs, to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and keep the service secure. We do not ask for your name, phone number, payment information, or account credentials to apply.

Separately, and only if you agree to it, we measure page visits. See Analytics and cookies below.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • manage applications for access to LATHIC Lessons;
  • contact you about access to LATHIC Lessons;
  • respond to questions or privacy requests;
  • prevent fraud, spam, and misuse; and
  • understand whether the application form is working properly.

We do not include your email address in analytics events. We will not use your email address for unrelated marketing without giving you appropriate notice and choice.

How we share information

We use service providers to operate the application form and website, including Supabase for database services, Vercel for hosting and delivery, and Google LLC, which provides Google Analytics and receives the page-view information described below if you accept analytics. These providers may process information only to provide services to LATHIC or as otherwise permitted by law.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or complete a business transaction such as a merger or acquisition.

We do not sell your email address. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC, to count visits to our pages. We only load it if you choose “Accept analytics.” Until you do, and after you decline, no Google script runs on this site, no request is made to Google, and no analytics cookie is set.

What we measure

If you accept, Google Analytics records a page view each time you open one of our pages or move to another one. It also generates its own standard activity that it needs in order to produce its reports — for example that a visit has started, that a session is in progress, and how long you were engaged with a page. That activity is Google Analytics’ own, and we cannot switch it off while using the product.

LATHIC does not send any custom analytics events. The events described above are Google Analytics 4’s standard events.

A page view includes:

  • the address of the page you viewed, including pages in our free AI glossary;
  • the page you came from, such as a search engine or a link;
  • general information about your device, browser, and language;
  • an approximate location derived from your IP address, no more precise than a city; and
  • a randomly generated identifier stored in a cookie, so repeat visits can be counted as one visitor rather than several.

What we never send

We do not create analytics events from your glossary searches, your email address, or anything you enter in a form. We do not send your email address to Google in any form, including a domain or a hashed version of it, and we do not give Google an account identifier for you.

One thing worth being exact about, because it would be easy to overstate: a page view carries the address of the page. So the URL of a glossary term page does tell Google which term page was viewed, in the same way it does for any other page on the site. What we do not do is send a separate glossary-term event, or send the text you type into the glossary search box. That text is used on your device to find a match and is never transmitted anywhere.

We also keep Google’s advertising features switched off, even when you have accepted analytics. Google Analytics is set to deny advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization, and we do not enable Google signals. Accepting measurement does not mean accepting advertising.

Cookies

If you accept, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies:

  • _ga distinguishes one visitor from another; and
  • _ga_<container-id>, where the container id identifies our Google Analytics stream, maintains session state.

No cookie is set before you accept, and both are deleted when you turn analytics off.

Changing your mind

Use the Analytics preferences link in the footer of any page, or here:

When you turn analytics off, we record your choice, tell Google Analytics to stop collecting, delete the cookies above, and reload the page so the script and everything it loaded are gone. It is not loaded again on any later visit unless you accept again. Your choice is stored in your browser rather than in a cookie, so it applies to the browser you made it in; if you clear your browser storage, we will ask again.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as a decline and do not ask.

Retention

We keep the information from your application while you remain subscribed and for as long as reasonably necessary to contact you about access to LATHIC Lessons, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. If you ask us to delete your information, we will delete or de-identify it unless we need to retain a limited record of your request to honor your communication preference or comply with law.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or contacting us at hello@lathic.ai.

You can turn analytics on or off at any time using the Analytics preferences link in the footer of any page, or here:

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to withdraw consent. To make a request, email hello@lathic.ai. We may need to verify your request before completing it.

Glossary assistant

When you use the glossary assistant, LATHIC sends your question, the relevant glossary entries, and a rotating pseudonymous identifier to Microsoft Azure’s OpenAI service through Vercel AI Gateway. Both Vercel and the provider receive all three. LATHIC requires zero data retention and no training on every one of these requests, so the provider does not keep your question or answer after answering it and does not use them to train models. If no provider can meet those requirements, the request fails and you are told the assistant is unavailable; it is never sent somewhere else instead. LATHIC does not intentionally store your question or answer in its application database or content logs. Vercel records limited request metadata such as the model, token counts, latency, status and a rotating pseudonymous rate-limit identifier; content logging is disabled. LATHIC keeps only aggregate usage and cost information needed to operate and protect the service.

LATHIC mobile app

The LATHIC mobile app does not require an account. Glossary searches happen on the device. The app does not save searches, progress, or settings. The glossary is included with the app.

To keep its glossary current, the app checks lathic.ai for an updated glossary file and downloads it. That check does not include an account, glossary searches or anything you type. If you use Ask LATHIC in the app, the app sends only the question you typed to lathic.ai. On LATHIC’s server, the matching glossary entries are selected and a rotating pseudonymous identifier is created. The question, those entries and that identifier are then sent to Microsoft Azure’s OpenAI service through Vercel AI Gateway, as described under Glossary assistant above, with zero data retention and no training required on every request. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in your questions. Like other internet requests, the update check and Ask LATHIC carry standard technical information, such as an IP address and device request information, to LATHIC’s hosting provider, Vercel, which keeps routine request logs for a short period, currently up to one day, to deliver and secure the service. LATHIC does not use this information to identify you, track you or build a profile. The app does not send information to analytics services, advertising services, or crash-reporting services. It does not use advertising identifiers or track users across apps or websites. LATHIC does not save Ask LATHIC questions or answers, so there is no question or answer history for LATHIC to retrieve or delete. Routine hosting request logs are kept only for the short period described above.

Children

The application is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can delete it.

International processing

LATHIC and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as the application or our practices change. We will post the updated notice with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice when required.
